Hi everyone!

Our manufacturing partners returned from holidays, and the assembly process has resumed.

We got in touch with our logistic suppliers during their break to start working on the shipping process.

Because of the volume of items that we will ship to the US and Europe, we must ensure a seamless import process. This process includes VAT registration based on the requirements imposed by each country to avoid any setbacks in customs for our European backers. We also have two regional warehouses in the US, and the rest of the orders will be shipped from our warehouse in Hong Kong.

As you can recall, we charged for shipping almost a year ago. Shipping prices have varied a lot since then, so we updated all our estimations and selected the best cost-efficient shipping method to ensure the whole process with the reserved budget.

Certifications are essential to enter into Europe and the US. We already announced that we are  CA65, CE, and FCC compliant, and last week, we received the documents that validate these certifications. Here are some pics we received from the lab that tested Sandsara:

  • Sandsara under testing

Getting the certifications is a significant milestone for our engineering team, as most design decisions were based on safety requirements. These documents are required in customs to ensure we deliver a product that meets all the safety regulations.

  • FCC Certifications

  • CA65 Certification

I’ll get back to you in the following weeks to talk about the kickoff of our mass production batch! Thanks again for your support during this journey; it has made us push forward through difficult times. We can’t wait to see you receive the product you helped us bring to life.

Hi guys,

Due to factories shutting down during the Chinese New Year holidays, information has been quite slow. The quality control team has finished the inspection of the wood rings with great results. As we speak, rings are on their way to our assembly facility to integrate them into the assembly process once the facility is fully back from holidays.
To smooth out the assembly flow and ensure the correct PCB’s production, we worked on a detailed file with step-by-step instructions to assemble the JIG that will test the PCB’s functioning.

The test Jig performs two main tasks:

  • The programming of the PCB
  • The testing of all components of the PCB

The testing process for SANDSARA’s PCBs consists of three stages: Programming, self-testing, and hall-effect sensor testing. In the first stage, firmware is loaded into the PCB. Once the PCBs are successfully programmed, self-testing starts automatically. At this stage, the jig self-tests for voltage levels, communication with the drivers of the motors, and the correct configuration of micro-steps and electric currents for the motors. The third stage tests the external voltage and hall-effect sensors test.

The correct following of these instructions ensures the PCBs are loaded with the latest firmware upgrade. Once done, the PCBs will be sent to our assembly facility to be placed on SANDSARA.

We will keep pushing forward through the last stages of this amazing journey, thank you for your support, and can’t wait to see you receive your own Sandsara.

Hello everyone,

Over the last weeks, we have assembled the second batch of SANDSARA. Although slower than we want, this process has been highly resourceful, as it has been guiding and defining our assembly line for the mass production batch.

The wood ring

Parallelly, our wood suppliers have finished the total production of the wood rings! This is a significant milestone for our development team. As some of you already know, the wood ring was the piece that delayed our whole production process. After going back to prototyping and redefining the design, we finally got to the proper layout and tested it thoroughly before moving into production, and now, it’s finally done!

  • Our wood rings are awaiting in pallets for quality inspection

Right now, our team has been reviewing some rings from this batch following the AQL Standards for quality inspection. At this point, aesthetics is a critical aspect to review as rings are the main body of the Sandsara sculpture. Once the process finishes, the whole batch will be sent to the assembly facilities to keep the production flow going.

  • After the revision, the rings are wrapped up again and shipped to our assembly facilities

Our current goal is to get everything updated and settled into the assembly line before the Chinese New Year, and once the festivities are over, we will ramp up the production of the final batch. Back in October, we shared the assembly diagram for final production; now, this diagram has been reviewed and transformed into instruction sheets divided by systems for our assembly partners to follow.

Once finished, we will share these documents with you to give you a more precise scope of the assembly of Sandsara.

Our certifications

Last week, we received the news about Sandsara being CA65 compliant. Even when this requirement is only mandatory for California orders, this certification assures our product is entirely safe to use and free of harmful chemicals. It is also proof of how well our suppliers follow our material requirements.

  • Part of the draft from the CA65 compliance tests report

We’ll keep sharing more information regarding our developments in the following updates. Thank you for sharing your comments with us.
